Ten years ago, Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes put on a show that college football fans still talk about. On Oct. 22, 2016, Oklahoma beat Texas Tech 66-59 in a game that featured 1,708 yards of offense, an FBS record that still stands today.
Mayfield threw for 545 yards and seven touchdowns, while Mahomes somehow topped that with 734 passing yards and seven total touchdowns. The two future NFL stars combined for 1,279 passing yards and 12 touchdown passes in a game that featured just one punt. Here’s a closer look at how that wild night in Lubbock went down.
